Life Kicked You Down? Kick Back With Positive Perception

Kick back with a positive perception shift when life challenges bring you down. Here are seven things to keep in mind when life kicks you down.

There’s no doubt that life can be brutal at times. But, unfortunately, even if you’ve been smooth sailing to this point, there’s little chance of making it to the end of your life without suffering a significant setback at some point.

As Mike Tyson said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” What will you do when life punches you in the face?

Be prepared when life throws you a curveball.

  1. We’ve all been down before. But, unfortunately, this rebounded isn’t the first time you’ve dealt with challenging circumstances. Think back to the last time you thought you were dealing with more than you could handle. If, like most, you can acknowledge at least one time you felt that life sucked.
  • How do you feel about that time now? It won’t be long before you can reflect on your current situation and become aware of how far you have come and how much you have grown. Maybe even smile about it a little.

2. There’s nowhere to go but up! If you’re genuinely at your lowest, there’s a silver lining, there is only one way to go, and that is up!

  • Reaching an actual low point can be a blessing. At our lowest points, it’s a chance to get honest with ourselves, dig in, and make some positive changes in our life.

3. Even small changes can make a big difference. When you’re at your lowest, even tiny adjustments could substantially affect how good life feels. Therefore, this moment is setting yourself up for more success down the road. Sometimes when we’ve been operating at an elevated level, it might be hard to break through frustrating obstacles or feel like progress is possible. That doesn’t mean there isn’t anything left to do; it just takes some creativity. Please have a little patience with yourself; while your thoughts and forward plan align with what’s best for us long-term.

4. Gratitude can provide a more positive shift in your perception of your current unwanted situation. Look for things you can be grateful for in your life. Your perspective will shift considerably, and you’ll be better for it. As a result, stepping back, being grateful, and relaxing a little bit to find solutions to your current dilemma will become easier.

  • Gratitude is a great tool available during good and challenging times. Are you strong enough to be grateful when you’re at your lowest? Everyone can reach in and find something if they try.

5. Progress is the key to feeling better. People are happiest when making progress. Focusing on a positive perception shift of the situation by setting up a couple of small goals and working to achieve them. Shifting your perception toward positive goals, no matter how small, you will feel much better than you think.

  • It’s more enjoyable to be in a rough situation but making progress each week than to be in a good situation and sliding backward each week.

6. Most often than not, our negative situations are later laughed about, and you will someday, at this low time in life. Long after the fact, there’s something a little humorous about the bad times. You realize how overly dramatic you were at that time. You’ll eventually grow to feel the same way about your present situation.

7. We become stronger in life’s hard knocks. Hard times create strong people. It stinks while it’s happening, but you might even be grateful someday for your current struggles. As it’s said, when the tower falls, there is a weak foundation, and something more substantial and better is coming. This outlook is the power of positive perception. You’ll become stronger and more capable.

  • People that have never faced significant challenges can become overwhelmed with emotions. Therefore, making the situation harder on themselves than it has to be.

Your Not Alone: positive perception

You’re not alone. Remember that there are plenty of people that are willing to help. Avoid the urge to hide from the world and deal with your challenges alone. It’s unnecessary. Reach out and allow others to assist you. What do you have to lose?

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when everything seems to be crashing down around you, but you can overcome your situation. Set a simple goal and achieve it. Then, set a slightly bigger goal and achieve it. The momentum you gain can give a significant boost of
confidence and optimism!

Stay in the game, even when the game gets rough. No matter how challenging your life might be, it could be worse. Others have overcome poverty, language barriers, health issues, being orphaned, and abuse and come out on top. You can overcome your current situation, too.
