Mind-Body-Heart Connection What is it?

We will start with the mind-body connection, which refers to our thoughts, emotions, belief systems, and attitude, which all positively or negatively affect our biological functions. Our minds can affect how healthy our bodies are. Everything we do with our bodies, from the food we eat, our exercise practice, and even our posture, impacts our mental state, for better or worse. Therefore, these results from a complex interrelationship between our mind and body.

All the organs in the body and our emotional responses share a common chemical language. They are all in constant communication with one another. For example, the brain, peripheral nervous system, endocrine, and immune systems work together or against one another.

What Does the Word “Mind” Mean?

Most say it means our “brain,” but it does not. The mind consists of our mental state, emotions, beliefs, images, and attitudes we hold. The brain is the hardware that allows us to experience mental states, conscious or unconscious. The situations we find ourselves in affect our emotional reactions. Without awareness, we do not understand why we react positively or negatively to a problem. Each mental state has a physiological association and is felt in the physical body. Example: Chronic anxiety causes the body to produce stress hormones, and it shows up in the body as stomach issues, stress headaches & high blood pressure, or worse.

By becoming more conscious of our mental state, we can use our awareness to guide our emotions. We are directing our negative mental states to a better place. Therefore, there are less destructive implications on the body & state of mind.

Mind-Body Connection Therapies and Why Use Them? mind-body connection

Become aware and pay attention to the patterns of your emotional reactions to mental states, such as anxiety, anger, depression, and pessimism. Becoming aware of negative emotions could very well help you stay healthy. Recover quicker from illnesses by reducing the frequency and severity of symptoms.

Headache? Stop and become aware of what may have caused it. Were you driving in stressful traffic? Have you argued with a partner or friend? Did your boss tell you a half-hour before the punch-out time; you have to work over tonight? Did you miss lunch because something more pressing needed your attention? Bringing awareness to what may have triggered your headache can tell you a lot. Could any of these reasons be the contributing factor to your pain? How could you ease any hassles next time? Next time, step back and accept the situation you cannot change at the moment. Try deep breathing; stress causes us to breathe shallow with constricting breath. Taking a few moments to take some deep breaths in and out can quickly lower stress levels.

Mind-body Therapies Prevent Disease.

Mind-body therapies and practices are essential to managing and preventing stress. Research clearly shows that prolonged stress contributes to diseases. Such as, overwhelming anxiety leads to paralyzing panic attacks and other mental health issues. High blood pressure, irregularities in the heart, excessive fatigue, digestive disorders, diabetes, and diminished fertility. Suppressing the immune system leaves us more open to new diseases and the recurrence of previous conditions.

Mind-body practices & therapies can have a profound positive impact on how you experience symptoms. For example, experiencing pain can be transformed with these techniques. Example: A mother who gave birth using practiced focus point and breathing techniques will tell you it works. Another example: Two individuals with chronic back pain. Person A is almost incapacitated, while person B has made peace with their diagnosis. Person B has decided to take charge of their illness with a positive attitude. Therefore, person B takes conscious steps to minimize stress levels in life, meditating, exercising, & eating a balanced diet. Support systems can also enhance one’s ability to keep moving forward & chronic pain begins to subside.

The Body’s Power to Heal Itself

Mind-body practice & therapies can help conventional treatment by using the body’s power to heal itself. Research studies repeatedly show that mind-body therapies & techniques positively impact the immune system and lower blood pressure, reducing stress hormones, which cause damage to the body & mind. Mind-body therapies & practices can also reduce the need for some medications. As a result, they are fundamental, which heightens our self-awareness capacity to help ourselves physically & psychologically.

Mind-Body-Heart Connection

People often say the mind-body-soul connection, but this is not entirely accurate. When the soul comes into physical incarnation, it splits itself into three, body-mind-heart consisting of feelings, thoughts, and matter. So therefore, the true Holy Trinity.

The root of human suffering, and as such, to solve suffering on this planet has to do with integrating these three aspects of self. If any are opposed to one or another, you are indeed suffering. Therefore, we can say that true peace in one’s self has to do with these core splits; consequently, peace on earth results from integrating these three splits in humanity.

We cannot achieve a state of peace and joy or achieve anything we want in life if we are in a state of fragmentation. Primarily these three are split. Most people are unaware that these three aspects are divided within themselves. Even when individuals know there is a split between these three aspects, most people are not teaching the integration of the three. In fact, others are teaching alignment by enhancing the division between them.

Depending on where you live in the world, in these diverse demographics, people hold one of these aspects above the other two, more critical or supreme than the others. This concept further enhances fragmentation and therefore suffering.

The Fundamental Truth in This Universe is Oneness

We all know that one of the fundamental truths in this universe is that of oneness. We know we are body, mind, and we are heart. To deepen your understanding, I will use Teal Swan’s exercise example.

Go to the internet and google quotes about the “body and mind.” “heart and body” or the “mind and body.” Any passages that relate to these three aspects.

Exercise: Take one of these quotes and replace one of these words in the quote, either the word body, mind, or heart, with your name.

Example: If the quote states, “follow your heart, not your mind,” Change it to “follow your heart, not Lesa” Or “follow Lesa, not your mind”

Now feel what that would feel like if you were actually this part. See how it feels, the distance, the gap or separation, or the power imbalance between you.

Take this exercise one step further to understand better the split we create within ourselves entirely. Again read these quotes over. This time, when you see the words body, heart, or mind, replace each one of those with your name.

Example Quote: “follow your heart, not your mind” This quote would change to “follow Lesa, not Lesa” This exercise example actually shows us what we are doing to ourselves. This exercise clearly shows us the fundamental fragmentation fueled and supported in our world.

Each of These Parts, Body-Mind-Heart, is Equal

Each one of these parts is an equal part of ourselves. But unfortunately, we are creating separation, opposition, and imbalances between them. This split is in each of us today, and we must become aware of this inside ourselves.

This three-body-mind-heart is supposed to be an equal lateral triangle. The truth is the equal fusion between all three. Not one is a leader or follower—this is the ultimate manifestation of the soul into the physical dimension where divinity can fully express itself. We can achieve this by creating the perfect integration of the body-mind and heart connection. Each part manifests the whole it is, the true Holy Trinity.

There must be harmony and agreement between them, each taking care of the other. Each feed upon one other and cannot be separated. The body-mind-heart must decide together upon a course of direction and action.

Mind-Body-Heart Each is Critical to The Health and Well-being of The Other Two

The mind-body-heart connection is real and valid. The three are the perfect manifestation of our soul. Your core experience here on earth is the harmony between the three. Therefore, commit to integrating the three, and feel complete harmony and balance between the mind-body-heart connection.
