Understanding what it is, is an excellent place to start. However, before we try to blast forward through our fear, we must find the resistance we hold related to that fear. Not only do we need to understand it, but we also need to feel that fear. Where in our emotional body does this fear present itself? Where does our fear of failure roots stem from?
Phobias Are Irrational Thoughts: (atychiphobia) or Fear of Failure Phobia.
Fears Are Conscious or Subconscious Blocks From Past Experiences.
Phobias are irrational fears related to specific objects, past experiences, or situations. For example, if you experience (atychiphobia), you have an irrational and persistent fear of failing.
Example of Irrational Fears: However, irrational fears don’t feel irrational at all to the person experiencing them. They are horrific, painful, valid, and true to them.
- Fear of something from our past, physical, mental, or emotional, painful experience. You constantly feel that it will happen again. We can be conscious of what we fear, or it can be subconscious.
- Your fears are so intense that they keep you stuck in a downward spiral where you never want to try again.
- Relationship fears, you lost a best friend or a failed marriage, you feel you will never find love again. Or I may think that whenever I love someone, they leave me.
- Fear of clowns, one scared the crap out of you when you were a kid, or the movie “IT.”
- The fear of dogs if you were bitten before; now you think every dog that comes near will bite.
Fear of Failure Holds Us Back From Living The Life We Want and Deserve
- Someone may have failed at their first attempt to be a business owner. As a result, they hold the fear of failing again, consciously or subconsciously. Therefore, they will never again try, no matter the situation or opportunity that comes their way.
- Healing an illness or disease, but now the fear of becoming sick again stops you from your expansion. You don’t try at the business you want so desperately or try to go back to work. You fear that you will become sick once you start, which will end that something you want so desperately.
- You were passed over for the job promotion you desperately wanted. Now you are hesitant to apply for future promotions with great fear that you will be denied again. You dread even thinking about being rejected again, the humility you may feel. As a result, you don’t try for that promotion you want so much. Therefore, you stay stuck in the same ole position, filled with negative emotions, pain, and fear.

The ultimate goal will always feel out of reach, for they avoid starting anything in the first place.
Procrastination:
Procrastination is a big hurdle when suffering from fear of failure phobia. Research has shown a connection between the fear of failure and procrastination. Often rooted in fear, figuring out how to beat that fear will be vital to blasting through it. Quick fixes may work for now, but if you don’t address your fear, it will continue to interfere in your life. Therefore, conscious or subconscious blocks hold you back from what you want to achieve. Thus, causing procrastination despite your best intentions.

Ask Yourself These Questions, and Take A Look At These Suggestions
- Look at what scares you; what do you fear most when wanting to go toward your desires?
- Take a few minutes to look and feel within yourself. Sit in a comfortable position or lay down. Close your eyes and know you are safe. Wrap a warm blanket around you to feel more secure if you want. Scan your body, and feel where this fear shows up in “Your Body.” Where does it affect you when you even think about it? What does it feel like? Does it have a color?
- Ask yourself, why does this scare me so much? Ask this feeling of fear inside; what can I do to make you feel safe? What would be so bad if I went ahead and did that thing you want? Listen to what answers come up, believing them as valid and authentic for you.
- You can write out and analyze all potential options, the pros and cons, and the what if’s in your decision.
- Assess the risks involved.
- Consider every possible result before committing fully. The process will help minimize any regrets and anxieties resulting from a consequence.
- Positive thinking and self-talk can be compelling ways to build self-confidence and neutralize self-sabotage.
- In some cases, the worst-case scenario may be genuinely disastrous, and it is perfectly rational to fear failure. In other cases, however, the worst case might not actually be that bad, and recognizing this can help.
- Have a plan B in place if you’re afraid of failing at something. Having a plan B can help you feel more confident about moving forward.
- Set a goal and take small steps toward what you want each day. Helping you gain confidence and momentum.
- Have faith in yourself and the Universe, for it has your back! The Universe counts on our expansion, for we are expanding the Universe.
So take your time with these questions, even though they may feel impossible sometimes. Breathe through moments where you feel lost because everything will soon change—facing those inner doubts and fears. Finally, understand that fear is just an illusion anyway of our irrational thoughts. We all are worthy of our most wanted desires. So don’t let fear of failure stop you.
