To change oneself to become the person you desire and know you can be. Inner child healing also reconnects us to the wounded parts of the child within.

Healing Takes Time

Healing your inner child is a process; it takes time to contact, understand, and embrace the wounded part of yourself. This part of ourselves represents the child of our original self. The playfulness, wonder, joy, sensitivity, and innocence that child came into this world to experience.

Reconnect to your fragmented parts to discover the root of your pain, fears, phobias, self-sabotaging, and insecurities.

With the inner child healing process, you go to the core, reveal when the pain/trauma and issues began, and learn to deal with them effectively. So we go deep, not just to look at the symptoms of your pain.

Deep within us, there is a reservoir of experiences and memories we have held since childhood. These memories continue to live and interact with the present. The inner child in all of us is the source of our vitality and creativity. Connecting to our wounded child helps heal our emotional problems as the direct result of not honoring this part of ourselves in our adult lives.

Many Pressures of Adult Life

Adults live with many pressures that extinguish the inner child flame. However, you can fight back by connecting to your childhood source against these pressures.

Reconnecting to Your Inner Childhood

Spend time recalling memories as though they were happening right now. All the things that brought you happiness and joy as a child. Write down the fun experiences you had as a child in a journal. Then, daydream about the fun times alone, with friends, family, and in school.

Patterns of Childhood

Some patterns are familiar to most people in childhood. See if any of these patterns resonate with you. By looking into your life right now, you can determine what patterns you have experienced and see what is coming up in your adult life.

  • The Fearful Child- This child received a lot of criticism and experiences anxiety regularly—they may experience higher bouts of anxiety when not getting enough affirmation.
  • The Abandoned Child- This inner child emerges from not getting enough attention from their parents. These deep wounds can stem from a busy parent or a more extreme place, such as neglect or abuse.
  • The Playful Child- This child is healthy and often neglected in adulthood. Do you remember feeling playful, spontaneous, and having lots of fun without feeling guilt or anxiety?

Pay attention to your feelings, for your inner child is vulnerable and sensitive. Bring your awareness to your inner child’s fears and insecurities. Please pay close attention to the joys and happy expressions as they come up as well. Just take a break for a moment throughout your day and do a self-check-in. Ask yourself, “how am I feeling right at this moment”?

Become Mindful of Your Inner Child

One of the biggest struggles individuals have in becoming in touch with their inner child is feeling foolish as adults. Feeling silly to connect with their childhood feelings is usually the inner critic coming through the adult self. The adult and inner child voices both need to be heard. Listening to both gives the space to process and shape how you are feeling today.
