Chakra Yoga Poses

Root Chakra- Mountian Pose-Chakra Yoga Poses

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine, The root chakra channels nourishing gound energy from the earth. When our root chakra is open we feel connected, safe, and provided for.

When there is an unbalanced in the root chakra we experience imbalances in our physical body. We experience a diminished sense of security. When the root chakra becomes more in alignment we feel confident with a healthy sense of belonging.

The mountain pose is a great pose to connect to the earth’s energy through all corners of the feet. We invite the earth’s energy upward to feel nourished from our feet throughout the body.

  1. Begin standing, feet slightly apart press your feet firmly into the floor.
  2. Activate your core, relax your shoulders, and reach up to the top of your head skyward.
  3. Bring your palms to meet at the heart center.
  4. Breathe deeply, feel your feet connecting to the center of the earth, imagine a light at its core. Imagine the top of your head connected to the sky above with a string of light.
  5. Focus on the energetic connection with the earth below and the sky above simultaneously.
  6. Visualize your root chakra as a bright red light shining out at the tailbone.
  7. Take a few deep breathes in and out before you release the pose.

Sacral Chakra- Chakra Yoga Poses-Revolved Triangle

Our sacral chakra is located in the pelvic area. This is our creative center, self-expression, emotions, and pleasure center.

When the sacral chakra is imbalanced we can feel sexually frustrated, repressed emotionally with a lack of passion in life. When balanced we can easily connect with others and find joy in everything.

  1. First bring your right foot forward, hips square to the front of your mat.
  2. Place a yoga block inside your right foot directly under your face, place your left hand on the block.
  3. Bring your right hand to your hip crease and gently bring your right hip back to line it with your left hip.
  4. As your hip becomes adjusted, slowly twist your torso to the right.
  5. Slowly extend your right arm to the sky, keeping your right shoulder stacks on top of your left.
  6. Inhale to lengthen your spine and exhale to twist.
  7. become aware of your reproductive organs. Visualize a bright orange glowing light in your pelvic area.
  8. Hold for a few breaths and release back to the pyramid pose
  9. Repeat on the other side.

Solar Plexus Chakra-Boat Pose

Our solar plexus chakra is located at the navel center and is the core of our identity, personality, and our ego. Chakra yoga poses work great on all 7 chakras.

When the solar plexus is out of balance, we experience low self-esteem and stress. Therefore, when the solar plexus becomes balanced we feel more capable and confident.

The boat pose helps to activate the core and your internal fire. Helping to put you back in alignment, and balance.

  1. Begin seated with your knees bent and your feet on the mat.
  2. Place your hands behind your hips, lift your chest, and lengthen your spine.
  3. To activate your core, slowly lean back but keep your heart lifted.
  4. If you want to add more intensity, extend your arms forward and lift your shins so they are parallel with the mat.
  5. Focus on the core engagement and visualize a subtle yellow light as you feel your internal fire begin to build.
  6. Hold your variation of Boat Pose for 15 to 30 seconds.
  7. Gently release and repeat 3 to 5 times.

Heart Chakra- Low Lunge-Chakra Yoga Poses

When we have a balanced heart chakra we become enabled to feel more compassion, generosity, respect, and our deep connection with others and nature all around us. To be fulfilled we need unconditional love, and opening and balancing our heart chakra is a gateway to allowing more love into our lives.

With a blocked or unbalanced heart chakra, we can lose our sense of connection with others and self-love capabilities. Practicing the low lunge invites our heart space to open, aligning our heart chakra energy.

  1. Begin in the downward dog pose.
  2. step your right foot forward between your hands and lower your left knee to the mat.
  3. Shift your weight forward into your right foot to allow your hips to release and stretch the front of your left hip.
  4. Reach your right hand skyward and bring your left hand to your left leg. This variation is a heart opener and stretches out the front of the body.
  5. Inhale to lift your chest and exhale to find a gentle backbend.
  6. Focus your visualization on your heart space. See this bright green light filled with love, compassion, and kindness glowing from within and all-around your chest.
  7. Hold for a few breaths and release.
  8. Repeat on the other side.

Throat chakra- Easy Pose With Chanting

Charka yoga poses as with the (easy pose) will open up your throat chakra. The throat chakra is the energy center located in the throat. This energy helps us speak, to communicate authentically with others, as well as ourselves. Speaking our truth, and confidence to speak in public.

When the throat chakra is out of balance we can experience ear, nose, and throat issues. Our creativity and our authentic voice can become blocked. With a balanced throat chakra, we easily express the creative and life-affirming aspects of ourselves with confidence. Changing HHUUMM can open up the throat chakra and keep the energy aligned. If not comfortable chanting, one can sing their favorite song.

  1. begin seated cross-legged, easy pose position, hands in the Gyan mudra. Index fingertip to thumb all other fingers are kept straight.
  2. Inhale to lift your chest and lengthen your spine.
  3. Exhale relax your shoulders and arms.
  4. Gently tuck your chin toward your chest to create a throat lock to stimulate the throat.
  5. Chant HHUUMM
  6. Visualize a bright blue light in the and around your throat removing all doubt you may have regarding your truth. Chanting for 6 to 11 minutes.

Third Eye Chakra-Dolphin Pose

Our third eye chakra is located on the forehead between our brows. Known as the “all-seeing eye” and our intuition center. Accessing clear thought and self-reflection, messages from sources, as well as inner guidance helps us on our life path.

The third eye chakra yoga pose will help you clear your third eye from blockages removes confusion and physical symptoms such as dizziness, migraines, and headaches. When our third eye is balanced we begin to see clearly and without being clouded by our opinions, ego, and past.

  1. The dolphin poses increases circulation to our brain and face stimulating your third eye chakra.
  2. Begin in the down-dog pose, then lower your forearms to the ground. Stacking shoulders above the elbows.
  3. Bring palms to touch with thumbs pointing up and the pinky fingers pressing firm on the mat.
  4. Rock forward bring your chin in front of your thumbs, then rock back into dolphin pose. Continue this movement and visualize energy connecting your third eye and thumb knuckles.
  5. Practice 5 times and gently release to the child pose.

Crown Chakra-balancing Butterfly

The crown chakra is different than other chakras, it is an opening rather than a weel or crossing point of the energies. The crown chakra is the seat of our consciousness. This is our center of trust, devotion, and inspiration. Connecting us to the infinite and limitless realization. Aligning our crown chakra brings peace, joy, serenity, and positivity to our lives.

When our crown chakra is misaligned or overactive you may experience spiritual distrust, a negative outlook on life, and may have feelings of disconnectedness from the body and earthly matters.

  1. Begin kneeling on your mat with toes tucked. Lift your knees and come upon the balls of your feet.
  2. Keep your heels together under your sit bones and open your knees as wide as you can. (you can place your hands on the mat for balance)
  3. Once you feel balanced, bring your hands to heart. To be more intense, bring hands overhead in prayer position.
  4. As you hold, visualize energy traveling from the root chakra up through each chakra, and rising out the crown chakra as the energy showers you with a golden-white light around you.
  5. Hold for 5 to 10 breaths, then slowly release.
